All we need is Love

Valentine's day is a special time for preschoolers. Lots of cards being made, gifts being given, talking about what love is, and how we can be good friends, etc. I am always amazed by how smart children are, and how much they understand, even at such a young age. Last week we made Valentines that would be sent to the sick or sad people in our community. At first it was hard to have the children understand that they couldn't take their Valentine cards home, but instead, the cards would stay at the school and be mailed out to people. However, once this concept did get through to them, it was really sweet to see how much the children cared about making beautiful Valentine's that would help cheer-up the recipients of these cards. One of the three year olds even said, "Making these cards for the sick people is going to make Jesus so happy." I'm telling you, your children are very smart! But more importantly, they have the biggest hearts- I hope you all enjoy your little Valentines this week  :)

Rain Rain Go Away

Rainy days can be tricky with little ones. Their desire to be outside and get their bursts of energy out are to be expected. Thankfully, at El Montecito we have an abundance of resources and space to use on days when we can't be outside. I had a blast with your children on this rainy day. I was worried that they might get a little wild being stuck inside all day, but I had nothing to worry about! We had so much fun playing in the rest and play room together. We set out an abundance of manipulatives, costumes, books, and activities to keep them entertained.

The costumes that were set out were the hit of the day! The Children dressed up as different animals, and even though I found myself constantly helping children in and out of costumes, it was well worth it! They had me cracking up as they pretended to be different animals. I am extremely thankful to be apart of your children's lives, and I hope you are able to get as much of a kick out of them as I do. They grow up so fast, we must remember to enjoy every moment we can :)

Planting

I finally got the courage to try planting flowers with the children. We put on gardening gloves, got out the shovels, soil, water, and got to work! The children were so helpful by digging the holes and watering the flowers after they were planted. The flowers look beautiful out in our courtyard, and I can't wait to watch them continue to grow.... and more importantly, I can't wait to watch your little ones grow :)

Fun in the Garden!

What a blast we've been having outside with such amazing weather! We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place. The children have been very helpful watering all of our plants on the lower playground. They've also enjoyed picking broccoli and lettuce to eat while they take a break from playing. They just love being outside simply running around and using their imagination. I have been loving every second  outside with the little ones!

Yummy Broccoli!
